Can I send WhatsApp marketing messages to US numbers?
Not at the moment. Meta paused marketing template messages to US (+1) WhatsApp numbers from 1 April 2025 and had not announced a restart date as of late 2026. You can still send utility, authentication and service messages to US customers.
Can a US company use WhatsApp to market to customers abroad?
Yes. The pause applies to recipients with US numbers. A US business can send approved marketing templates to opted-in customers in other countries, charged at each country’s rate.
What counts as a utility message?
A message triggered by something the customer did or agreed to — like an order confirmation, shipping update, appointment reminder or account alert — with no promotional content. Meta reviews each template’s category.
Is WhatApsi based in the US?
